A NORTH schoolboy has been killed and his sister left fighting for life following a car crash on a family holiday in Egypt. Twelve-year-old Daniel Bainbridge died after the accident, which happened on Tuesday, while his 10-year-old sister Courtney is said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

A TOTAL of 19 people were arrested yesterday after around 1500 anti-fascist demonstrators joined a protest march near the site of a BNP festival. Tim Danaher accused Barrow-in-Furness Council of letting the town centre go to rot and said it was "no longer right" for the chain to keep a store in the Cumbrian town. The high street giant is in the process of modernising 80 per cent of its stores across the UK but the revamp has not taken place so far in Barrow.

TWO North soldiers killed by an explosion in Afghanistan died trying to save a colleague injured in an earlier blast, the Ministry of Defence has revealed.
