IT takes just 10 minutes but you can transform your hands. Follow our simple guide and you'll have paws to die for... First, get rid of any traces of old nail varnish using a gentle remover. Try something like Cutex Moisture Guard Nail Polish Remover, pounds 1.99, which also moisturises, leaving nails soft and clear. Give hands a good wash in warm soapy water. Don't make it too hot and don't leave them to steep so long that they go wrinkly. Pat dry with a clean towel. Trim long nails using sharp nail scissors. Normal scissors will do, but take care not to cut too deep into the nail.

File rough edges using an emery board, as metal files will split weak nails. Try Ms Manicure Washable Emery Board, pounds 1.99 from Boots, and always try to file in one direction - side to side action is also a common cause of split nails.
