CALL me a traitor, but I couldn't help but enjoy watching Ricky Ponting put England to the sword this week. Easily the most bogus part of the phoney war of words fought in the Ashes build-up was the suggestion that Australia's captain is past it.

Those who believe the Tasmanian's captaincy is seriously flawed had also begun to pick apart his batting, claiming he has become vulnerable at the start of his innings.
