IT looked likely to be MotoGP business as usual this morning after Casey Stoner smashed yet another lap record to grab his 10th pole of the season in Motegi.

The Australian was hoping to pull off his well-honed trick of clearing off into the sunset when the re-scheduled MotoGP of Japan got under way at about 7am UK time today. The Repsol Honda star set a fastest lap of 1.45:267mins, shattering reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo's three-year record and also earning himself the title of most successful qualifier in the MotoGP four-stroke era.
